DOT Mandated Compliance

The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) goal is to keep our skies safe. The FAA mandates companies to provide a FAA drug & alcohol testing program for the following safety sensitive employees. The DrugfreeUSA FAA Consortium meets all of the requirements to ensure compliance.

An employee holds one or more of the following job roles:

  • Flight Crew Members
  • Flight Attendants
  • Flight Instructors
  • Aircraft Dispatchers
  • Aircraft Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance
  • Management staff required to perform regulated functions
  • Ground Security Coordinators
  • Aviation Screening Duties
  • Air Traffic Control Duties

DOT regulations require employers provide a safe and healthy workplace for its employees and the general public. Employers in the aircraft industry are required to comply with the FAA federal regulations 49 CFR part 40 and 14 CFR part 121 for their company mandated FAA drug and alcohol testing program.

Convenient, Compliant FAA Programs

The FAA program requires the following testing reasons:

  • Pre-employment
  • Random
  • Post-Accident
  • Reasonable Suspicion
  • Return-To- Duty
  • Follow-up

Each test screens for the following drug classes:

  • Amphetamines
    (including MDMA & Ecstasy)
  • Cocaine
  • Marijuana
  • Opiates
  • Phencyclidine (PCP)

NOTE: DOT regulated drug tests are screened exclusively at SAMHSA approved laboratories. Currently only urine based tests meet regulatory standards.

FAA also requires testing for Alcohol usuage
